While it may be too early to consider him a prospect, Mr. Dong seemingly has all of the tools to generate ripples in a division that’s getting red hot.
Originally from Beijing, China, the well-muscled 26 year old goliath debuted last summer by stopping Alex Rozman (2-7, 1 KO) in the second round, notching three knockdowns in the process.
Dong’s opponent in May will be Ronny Hale (3-7, 3 KO), a 32 year old who fights out of Austin, TX. Hale last fought in July, engineering a first round knockout over a young man making his pro debut.
At this stage in Dong’s career, activity is important. Let’s hope we see him at least three more times in 2015.
