Kang Jung-ho Gets 1st Hit for Pittsburgh
|Kang Jung-ho of the Pittsburgh Pirates finally registered his first Major League hit in an away game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.
He took a single off a 130 kph slider from Milwaukee starter Kyle Lohse at the top of the seventh inning at Miller Park.
Kang, who batted seventh and manned third base, went 1-for-4. His first hit in the big leagues came in his fourth game and seventh at-bat.
“I wanted it so desperately,” said Kang after the game. “It would have been nice if it had come sooner.”
After the game, Kang was presented with the ball he hit. The Pirates won 10-2.
Sunday’s game concluded a six-game road trip that opened the season for the Pirates.
Kang has invited his parents to attend Tuesday’s home game against the Detroit Tigers — his debut at PNC Park. The Pirates beat the Tigers 5-4 in their first home game of the season on Monday.
