Bayer Leverkusen sign a star in Son Heung-Min

Leverkusen resorted to signing the Korean youngster due to the loss of their star man Andre Schurrle to Chelsea.

The 20-year-old is one of the world’s top prospects after he managed to score 12 goals and provide two assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances last season.

Leverkusen’s South Korean signing is sure to bring the club many new fans, especially in the player’s homeland.

20-year-old  Son Heung-Min is a pacey, two-footed forward and is able to play in a number of attacking positions. He has consistently shown that he is a lethal finisher in front of goal.

He signed for a reported €10million on a five-year-deal, showing his intent on staying at the club for the foreseeable future. He is now Leverkusen’s most expensive signing ever.

Son joined Hamburger SV in 2008 at 16, and made his senior debut in 2010. He scored his first Bundesliga goal in October 2010 to become the youngest Hamburger SV player to score in the Bundesliga.

He went on to score three goals in 13 league games in 2010-2011 and five more in 27 games in 2011-2012, before breaking out in 2012-2013.

“We have made it clear from the very beginning that Andre Schurrle’s transfer to Chelsea would only be feasible providing we had an adequate replacement,” Holzhauser said to reporters. “By signing Son to a long-term contract, we’ve brought in a top-class alternative.”
