Winnipeg Jets newcomer Devin Setoguchi says Winnipeg feels like a hockey home

WINNIPEG – Devin Setoguchi didn’t need a history lesson when deciding what number to wear as he joined the Winnipeg Jets.

After wearing No. 10 for the Minnesota Wild the past two seasons, Setoguchi was ready for a change.

“Ten kind of has a history here and it’s tough to follow up on 50-goal seasons. Dale Hawerchuk did that pretty well,” said Setoguchi. “I just decided to go with something else and 40 looks like 10, with a little mark on it.

“(Wearing 10) crossed my mind, but I thought I’d try something new. The number is one thing, but it’s more about what’s on the front (of the jersey), not what’s on the back.”

Setoguchi, 26, was acquired in a trade with the Wild on July 5 for a second round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

It’s the second time he’s been dealt in the past three years, so making the switch to a new team isn’t quite as tough as in 2011.
