Jung Ho Kang hits homerun in first spring training game
|The Pirates are not known for making splashy free agent signings, but they did make a decent investment in shortstop Jung Ho Kang this winter. He’s coming over from the Nexen Heroes in Korea after Pittsburgh won his rights with a $5 million bid and then signed him to a four-year, $11 million contract.
The 27-year-old Kang had a monster season in 2014, hitting .356/.459/.739 with 40 home runs in only 117 games for Nexen. There are more than a few skeptics who wonder how that power will play in MLB, especially since Kang employs a high leg kick, but he showed off his pop in his first spring training game on Tuesday.
