Asian Quarterbacks throwing passes in College: Jameson Wang, Micah Alejado, Noah Kim, Jonah Chong

Jameson Wang

Jameson Wang, born on July 30, 2001, in Los Angeles, California, is the starting quarterback for the Cornell Big Red football team. A versatile athlete, he began his high school career at Harvard-Westlake School before transferring to Oaks Christian School for his senior year, where he set multiple single-season records. Wang initially committed to the United States Air Force Academy but later transferred to Cornell University, where he has made significant contributions to the football program. Notably, he became the first Cornell freshman to both throw and run for a touchdown in the same game.

Micah Alejado

Micah Alejado, a freshman quarterback for the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors, hails from Hawaii, attended Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. During his high school career, he led his team to three consecutive Nevada state titles, amassing 125 touchdown passes and over 9,200 passing yards.

Alejado committed to Hawai’i in April 2023 and officially joined the program in January 2024 and is considered the future QB1 for coach Timmy Chang.

First extended playing time goes 11/12, 111 yards and throws first career touchdown on November 16th, 2024

 

Noah Kim

Noah Kim, born on December 3, 2001, in Centreville, Virginia, is an American football quarterback currently playing for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.  He began his collegiate career at Michigan State University, where he played from 2020 to 2023, starting five games in the 2023 season and completing 91 of 160 passes for 1,090 yards and six touchdowns.

In December 2023, Kim transferred to Coastal Carolina University, seeking new opportunities and bringing his experience to the Chanticleers’ football program.  As of November 2024, he has appeared in five games for Coastal Carolina, completing 29 of 48 passes for 308 yards and four touchdowns.

 

Jonah Chong

Jonah Chong is a senior quarterback for the Northern Colorado Bears, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 190 pounds.  Hailing from Kahalu’u, Hawaii, he graduated from ‘Iolani School in Honolulu, where he was a two-sport athlete in football and baseball, leading his team to a conference championship in 2019 and earning two-time all-state honorable mention honors.

Chong began his collegiate career at the University of Nevada in 2020, then transferred to the University of Hawai’i in 2023, before joining Northern Colorado in 2024.

As of November 2024, he has appeared in three games for the Bears, completing 6 of 14 passes for 16 yards.
