Former Milpitas High Alumni, Bryan Nguyen, Shines in Vietnamese Basketball Association Debut

Saigon, Vietnam – In a stunning professional debut, 5’10” Vietnamese point guard Bryan Nguyen has made a remarkable entrance into the Vietnamese Basketball Association (VBA). The former Milpitas High School star lit up the court, leading the Da Nang Dragons to a thrilling victory and earning the title of Player of the Game with a standout performance that included scoring 21 points, 8/13 shooting,  4/9 shooting from three, 14 rebounds, 5 assists.

Nguyen, who developed his basketball skills at Milpitas High School in California, has been on an incredible journey from high school phenom to college in Fairbanks, Alaska to professional player in Vietnam. His debut game was a testament to his hard work and dedication, as he dazzled fans and opponents alike with his skill and poise.

From the opening tip, Nguyen commanded the floor with confidence and precision. His 21-point outburst was marked by sharp shooting, quick drives to the basket, and clutch free throws. Nguyen’s ability to control the tempo of the game and make crucial plays in key moments was instrumental in the Dragons’ success.

In addition to his scoring, Nguyen’s playmaking abilities were on full display. He dished out several key assists, setting up his teammates for easy baskets and orchestrating the Dragons’ offense with remarkable efficiency. Defensively, he was a relentless presence, recording steals and disrupting the opposing team’s rhythm.

 

However, Bryan Nguyen suffered an ankle injury in the 2nd game of the season and isn’t expected back until the 2nd half of the season.  Jimmy Nguyen of the Hanoi Buffalos, another expat player from USA, joins Bryan Nguyen as the other heritage player in the VBA.  Antonio Tham continues his VBA career with the Nha Trang Dolphins.
