Chinese player Abudushalamu Abudurexiti joins the 2018 Warriors Summer League team
|With the NBA Draft now in the rear view mirror, the Golden State Warriors are starting to fill out their Summer League team, which will compete in both Las Vegas and Sacramento. And they’ve just added a very intriguing player: Abudushalamu Abudurexiti.
Abudurexiti, a 6’8” forward from China, who will turn 22 next week, wasn’t drafted, but was certainly on the radar of a few teams during Thursday’s draft.
As reported by The Athletic, a scout who has watched Abudurexiti play a lot said that, “He has good size for his position at 6-foot-8, shoots a deep 3-pointer with range and is easy with his feet set, and has a nice feel (for the game). He lacks the foot speed to defend, which will be a big issue. He could be a late 50s guy to undrafted. Shooting the 3-pointer gives him a chance.”
As with all Summer League invites, Abudurexiti is a long shot to make the roster, but if Golden State is impressed, they could offer him one of the pair of two-way contracts that they have.
