With 3:16 left in the final quarter, Carmelo Anthony drained a three to tie the game and give New York Knicks the momentum. Just then, Jeremy Lin decided to take over. First, he frisked his way to the paint for an impossible game-tying layup (watch below). A little later, with 1:27 left, and the game tied at 91, Lin made a 13-foot jump shot that sent the crowd at Time Warner Cable Arena into a frenzy.
With 2.2 seconds left, Cody Zeller made a layup off an inbounds play (watch video below) that lifted the Charlotte Hornets to a 95-93 victory over the Knicks on Wednesday night. With 0.6 seconds left, Kristaps Porzingis hit what appeared to be a game-winning three-pointer but officials huddled and ruled that the Knicks rookie didn’t get the shot off in time. “This would have been a tough one to swallow if I hadn’t made the play at the end,” Zeller said after the game. “It was a roller-coaster ride for me, missing those two free throws, then making that shot and then I thought I gave it away at the end,” he added.
Lin had an amazing fourth quarter which saw him steal the ball twice from Knicks’ rookie point guard Jerian Graint, make a few crucial free throws, draw a few fouls, set up Marvin Williams and Nicolas Batum for easy layups, and eventually hit those game-altering jump shots. Lin scored 13 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter.

Lin finished the game with 17 points, 3 steals, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and a plus/minus rating of +11 as the Hornets improved their season record to 4-4. Lin shot an impressive 7/11 from the field and 1/1 from deep in just 21 minutes of playing time. Kemba Walker, the primary point guard, shot a woeful 2/11 from the field while PJ Hariston, the other starting guard, finished with 5 points.
The other Jeremy – Lamb – continued to shoot efficiently with 14 points from 6/10.
Lin and Lamb combined for 31 points, just a night after they posted 37 in the win against Minnesota Timberwolves. It was once again evident that the two Jeremys had rescued the Hornets.
Nicolas Batum led the scoring chart for Hornets with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Zeller came off the bench for 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
For New York, Anthony led the way with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Porzingis had yet another double-double, finishing with 10 points, 15 rebounds and 2 blocks.
