Highly-ranked 6’2″ WR Drew Kobayashi from Hawaii has commited to Cal – Berkeley
|Cal football keeps on rolling along on the recruiting trail. One place they haven’t had any problem getting commits. Cal doesn’t need too many wideouts in this class, and the Golden Bears have now landed two wide receivers in the span of a week. First they landed Long Beach (Ca.) wide receiver Logan Gamble, and now Honolulu (Hi.) wide receiver Drew Kobayashi committed to the Golden Bears tonight!
Greg Biggins of Rivals has the story on Kobayashi’s commitment and what he saw that sold him on Cal. The 6-2, 185 pound receiver is all set to come to the Bears.
“My visit to Cal was incredible,” Kobayashi said. “From the first step I took on campus, it felt like home to me. I love the school and the coaching staff, it’s an amazing place. I love the campus, the facilities were top notch and I really bonded with the coaches and everything they had to say.
“I spent the whole day there on Tuesday and everything just felt right. My family was with me too and they were very comfortable with Cal and what the school has to offer academically and athletically. I didn’t want to make a decision on the visit so I slept on it last night and woke up Wednesday morning and I knew I wanted to be a Bear.”
Kobayashi took visits to schools like Washington, Washington State, and Cal recently, and apparently liked what he saw in Berkeley to decide on the Golden Bears. Kobayashi also had an offer from local Hawaii, Army, Navy, Nevada, and San Diego State.
Here are the rankings for Kobayashi.
- Rivals: Three stars (5.5), 7th best Hawaii prospect
- 247Sports: Three stars (87), 92nd best wide receiver, fourth best Hawaii prospect
- Scout: Three stars, 63rd best wide receiver
And here are the Hudl highlights.
