Lee Nguyen Named to USA Gold Cup Roster
|U.S. National Team Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann unveiled his 35-man provisional roster for the 2015 Gold Cup. The German-born skipper included a pair of Revolution players–midfielder Lee Nguyen and forward Juan Agudelo–on the first-look squad.
To date, Nguyen has earned six caps for the U.S. National Team. The creative midfielder debuted for the full national team in 2007, first playing against China. After two subsequent appearances in the Copa America, Nguyen waited until 2014 to earn another call-up. On Jan. 9, 2015, Nguyen was summoned ahead of friendlies against Chile and Panama.
Agudelo, who marked his USMNT arrival with a goal against South Africa at age 17, is currently with the U.S. National Team. After failing to see the field against the Netherlands, Agudelo earned a start against Germany only a few days later, featuring in the United States’ 2-1 victory.
One notable exception from the provisional roster is Jermaine Jones, who is currently ailing from a left groin sprain.
The US Men’s National Team will begin their bid to win a second consecutive Gold Cup trophy on Jul. 7 when they face Panama in Frisco, TX.
