Anaheim Ducks assign Brandon Yip to Utah Grizzlies
|The Utah Grizzlies have been assigned forward Brandon Yip by the Anaheim Ducks AHL affiliate in Norfolk.
Yip brings 174 games of NHL experience to Utah with Colorado, Nashville and Phoenix. He has 29 goals and 27 assists for 56 points and 130 penalty minutes in the NHL. He has appeared in 16 Stanley Cup playoff games and totaled three goals and three assists.
The 29 year old joins the Grizzlies this weekend in Bakersfield and is expected to make his Maverik Center debut Monday when Utah hosts Ontario at 1:30 p.m.
Yip attended Ducks training camp this fall and was assigned to Norfolk where he has logged three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 31 games with the Admirals.
Originally selected by Colorado in the eighth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Yip was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Year in 2005-2006 at Boston University as a freshmen and won the NCAA Championship at BU in 2009 as a senior. He graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
The Grizzlies are next in action Friday and Saturday in Bakersfield at 8 p.m.
