UFC: Erick Silva vs. Dong Hyun Kim Preview
|UFC Fight Night 29 is almost here, and it features a welterweight bout between Erick Silva and Dong Hyun Kim. Both of these welterweights will be looking to get an impressive win in hopes of moving up the welterweight ladder. This will be an interesting stylistic clash in that Silva is a dynamic striker, where Kim likes to use his excellent judo to work his ground game.Coming into this bout, Silva sports an overall record of 15-3-1. Silva burst onto the UFC scene by defeating Luis Ramos via KO in short order. He then defeated Carlos Prater within several seconds, but the ref determined that some shots went to the back of the head, turning the win into a DQ loss. Silva rallied back, however, as he was able to showcase his grappling skills, submitting Charlie Brenneman via rear-naked choke.A win over Kim would be huge for Silva’s career, and would break him into the top 10 in the division.Kim has been one of the better welterweights in the UFC for some time now. His grappling is some of the best in the division, and he has only lost two fights in his career. Some tough opponents he was able to get past include T.J. Grant, Nate Diaz, Paul Thiago and Sean Pierson. If he can get past the dangerous striker in Silva, he would cement his status as an elite welterweight.Silva will be looking to keep this bout standing, where Kim will be looking to get this fight to the ground in hopes of stifling Silva for the majority of the fight. It should be a great scrap from start to finish.

KIM KNOCKED SILVA OUT!!! He’s beaten some of the best UFC fighters so far… he should be in the UFC title hunt soon. But ofcourse Dana White is going to give it to someone who he can market in the US. Honestly, Kim has beaten some of the best ranked fighters out there currently. With this impressive knockout (almost as impressive as Cung Le’s knockout of Rich Franklin) it should be him in contention.
