Manchester United’s Shinji Kagawa is the man in Japan
|Michael Carrick says he expects Shinji Kagawa to get “plenty of attention” during Manchester United’s pre-season tour of Japan.
The Red Devils will play against Yokohama F. Marinos and Kagawa’s former club Cerezo Osaka in July as David Moyes’ men get in shape for the start of the new Premier League season.
Former Red Devils South Korean midfielder Ji-Sung Park always gets a rapturous welcome in the Far East, and Carrick is anticipating a similar reception for Kagawa next month.
“I’d expect it to be something similar to what we saw with Ji. Shinji is the man over there and I’m sure he’ll get plenty of attention,” Carrick told United’s website.
Carrick was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s United side which won the Fifa World Club Cup in Yokohama in 2009, and the England international insisted winning the trophy meant a lot to him.
