Female Knuckleballer Eri Yoshida is back for Na Koa
|WAILUKU – Four players who will be on Na Koa Ikaika Maui’s opening-day roster are former Maui Interscholastic League standouts. Infielder and catcher Joe Kala and infielder Kalaika Kahoohalahala, both Maui High School graduates, were on the 20-player roster announced Thursday, as were catcher-third baseman Logan Kanamu, a Baldwin graduate, and infielder A.J. Alexander, a graduate of Kamehameha Maui.
Eri Yoshida, who last season became the the first female pitcher to earn a win in a North American professional baseball league in 13 years, is back, as is infielder Jose Angel Sanchez, who batted a team-best .354 last year.
Na Koa’s regular season begins Tuesday at Maehara Stadium with a game against the Hawaii Stars.
