The 2012 Major League Soccer (MLS) Draft was held today. Defender Andrew Wenger of Duke was the 1st pick overall. Although, no asians were drafted this year, there has been a handful of player drafted in past years. Last year, half-thai Anthony Ampaipitawong was draft by the San Jose Earthquakes.
Anthony Ampaipitakwong, 2011 Draft, 2nd Round. Ampaipitakwong helped the Akron Zips to their first ever national championship in 2010 with a win in the College Cup Final against Louisville. Started all 93 games he appeared in over his four-year career at Akron, scoring 17 goals and notching 30 assists. From 2003-05, Ampaipitakwong was a part of the United States U-17 national team.
