Monaco, July 22  –Chinese men’s 4×100 meters relay team finished first in the 2017 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Diamond League in Monaco on Friday.

The team of Wu Zhiqiang, Xie Zhenye, Su Bingtian and Zhang Peimeng made a joint effort to beat the teams from the US, France, and Italy in 38.19 seconds.

American Red and Blue teams ranked second and third in 38.30 and 38.41 seconds respectively.

Jamaican sprint superstar Usain Bolt held on to win the 100 meters while China claimed a shock victory in men’s 4x100m relay at Friday’s Diamond League meet in Monaco.

Bolt, who has won eight Olympic and 11 world gold medals, beat off competition from Isiah Young of the United States in the last 30 meters to win in 9.95 seconds at Stade Louis II in Monaco. Young clocked 9.98. Akani Simbine of South Africa was third in 10.02.

Bolt will retire from the sport after next month’s world championships in London, where he will compete in the 100m and 4x100m relay.

 

In men’s 4x100m relay, the Chinese quartet of Wu Zhiqiang, Xie Zhenye, Su Bingtian and Zhang Peimeng won the title in 38.19 seconds.
