Injured Jeremy Lin Has Been Doing the Most Asian Thing During Nets’ Games

Jeremy Lin’s recovery from a hamstring injury he suffered earlier this month may take longer than previously expected. But while he is currently sitting through the games as the Nets continue to struggle, Lin has found a way to contribute in the best way he can.

Lin, a Harvard economics major, can now be seen carrying a clipboard during games, taking notes and statistics that his coaches may review later.

According to The New York Times, the 28-year-old starting point guard will “chart a self-styled version of offensive-efficiency statistics.”

Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson has dubbed Lin’s new task as “Linology.”

“It’s beautiful. It’s his way of showing he cares,” Atkinson was quoted as saying. “He asked me if he could do it, and I said, ‘Yeah, sure.’ And he just does it, and he hands it to me after every game, and then I hand it to—you know, I’m not exactly sure where it goes.”

Judging by how the Nets have been performing lately, someone should probably be looking at these “Linologistics”.

After a promising start of the season, the Nets have suddenly dropped their momentum, losing six of their last seven games.

Running on terrible offense (ranking number 21 overall in offensive efficiency in the NBA), the Nets are currently on a 4-11 record. The team also suffers in giving the ball away too much, averaging with the fourth-most turnovers per game in the league.

Of course, aside from all the benefits the team can extract from Linology, having Lin back on the court is what the team needs the most. Hopefully, he restores his full health soon.
