Guangdong’s Yi Jianlian and Emmanuel Mudiay begin their 2014/15 CBA season

BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) — Guangsha won a Zhejiang derby against Chouzhou after nailing the second quarter 36-19 en route to the 139-115 victory in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Wednesday.

Jamaal Franklin took a match-high 41 points for Guangsha, which scored 73 and led by 25 at halftime.

Guangsha outscored Chouzhou 44-35 in the third quarter and made the final period trash time.

Eli Holman added 17 points and 10 rebounds to Guangsha, while Wang Zheng had 18 and five rebounds. Errick McCollum led Chouzhou with 37 points.

Guangdong beat Jilin 135-111 to take their first win of this CBA season. Yi Jianlian finished with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Yi’s 18-year-old teammate, Emmanuel Mudiay, listed as one of the top prospects for the 2015 NBA drafts, had 29 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Guangdong have recovered from their season opener loss to defending champions Beijing as Wang Shipeng, Zhu Fangyu and Zhou Peng combined for 44 points for Guangdong, while Jilin’s Chinese players scored only 25 of the team’s 111 points.

Michael Beasley’s 33 points and 15 rebounds were not enough as Yao Ming’s Shanghai suffered their second loss, to Shanxi at 97-104. Von Wafer scored 31 points to help Shanxi stay unbeaten.

In Wednesday’s other matches, Xinjiang beat Chongqing 121-116 while Beijing defeated Bayi 100-89. Liaoning took a 117-93 win over Sichuan and Dongguan had a narrow 97-94 victory over Shandong. Jiangsu lost to Qingdao 98-103 and Tongxi were beaten by Fujian 119-126.

Foshan beat Tianjin 121-93 on Tuesday.
