Rangers sign free-agent infielder Kensuke Tanaka who was Darvish teammate
The Texas Rangers indeed have signed a Tanaka, though not the pitching prize of the winter market.
Kensuke Tanaka, a free-agent infielder and former teammate of Yu Darvish in Japan, and left-hander Ryan Feierabend signed minor-league deals Friday with the Rangers and were invited to spring training.
Tanaka, 32, played 15 games in 2013 with San Francisco but batted .329 (113 for 343) with Triple A Fresno. He also played nine games in the Venezuelan Winter League.
The Rangers continue to have interest in right-hander Masahiro Tanaka, but it isn’t certain if he will be posted by his team in Japan, the Rakuten Golden Eagles.
