Lee Nguyen thinks New England Revolution can make the playoffs

FOXBOROUGH – New England Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen didn’t leave anything to the imagination when it came to discussing his expectations for the team.

“I’ll be very disappointed if we don‘t make the (MLS) playoffs,” Nguyen said at Tuesday’s media session. “I believe in the guys and coach Jay Heaps.

“It isn’t a stretch to say this is a top five team and we want to make it to the finals. This team can make that push.”

In Heaps’ initial season as the Revolution’s coach, the Longmeadow native lead the team to a ninth-place finish in the 10-team Eastern Conference with a 9-17-8 record. But more often than not, the Revs were in contention for the majority of their games only to be devastated by a late goal.
