Manny Pacquiao arrives in Los Angeles to prepare for Tim Bradley: Floyd Mayweather wants Pacquiao next

MANILA, Philippines – Saranggani Congressman and 8-division World Boxing Champion Manny Pacquiao and his entire coaching staff arrived at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Sunday evening, May 5 (May 6 Manila time) to begin a four-week US training camp at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.

Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) is prepping for his June 9 bout vs WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (28-0, 12 KOs) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Nevada. Pacquiao, who will be defending his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight championship crown, says the Bradley fight will be a big one for him but he has the drive and hunger to win it. “No matter what Bradley says I still have the hunger to win. I had a great camp in the Philippines. No distractions at all,” he said. “We are ready to step it up over the next four weeks at Wild Card. This is a big fight for me. I can’t wait for June 9.”

Meanwhile Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, says his boxer means business and has made some sacrifices including his other favorite sport, basketball. “Maybe Bradley should come over to the Wild Card and see how hard Manny works in the ring. No one works harder – no one – and Manny is not ready to give up his throne,” Roach said. “Manny is so serious. He gave up playing basketball and that means a lot to him. He is a serious, dedicated athlete going into a very big fight. Now we do our finishing training at the Wild Card. I promise you Manny will shoot the works when he faces Bradley.”

It wasn’t exactly a shock when Floyd Mayweather said that he wants to finally get a fight with Manny Pacquiao made following his great win in a tough fight over Miguel Cotto. It also wasn’t a surprise when Floyd evaded actually answering the question when HBO’s Larry Merchant asked if he would be willing to budge on his prior statements that he wouldn’t give Manny a 50/50 purse split.

The fact that Floyd isn’t likely to ever agree to a 50/50 split with anyone, and Top Rank, Manny’s promoter, isn’t likely to ever agree to anything less, is going to always stand in the way of that fight. And if it isn’t the 50/50 split, it’ll be something else.
