Jeremy Lin has NBA’s top-selling jersey for 2011-2012 regular season | NJ.com

Breaking news: Jeremy Lin is popular.

The injured Knicks point guard (torn meniscus) had the highest-selling jersey at the NBA store and NBA.com for the 2011-2012 NBA regular season and he ranks second overall in jersey sales for the past year behind reigning MVP, Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose.

The Knicks Carmelo Anthony had the fifth highest-selling jersey over the last year and teammate Amar’e Stoudemire finished 11th overall. New York ranked second in total jersey sales behind the Chicago Bulls.

For the most part, this year’s list of most-popular NBA jerseys could have been predicted last year. It’s no shock that Kobe Bryant ranks third in sales or that LeBron James is fourth.

But like everything with Jeremy Lin, nobody could have possibly predicted this a year ago. Yes, he received a lot of attention from Chinese-language media while he played with the Golden State Warriors last season. This year, though, Lin became a legitimate star by averaging 14.6 points and 6.2 assists per game. His February marks of 20.9 points and 8.4 assists per game, as well as his 47.2 percent mark from the field during that span, helped spawn Linsanity and a seven-game winning streak.

Lin, who wears No. 17, now endorses Volvo and could find himself on the cover of one of several different NBA video games next year.

Of course, the only thing that seems to matter to Lin is getting his left knee prepared for a second-round playoff series should the team make it that far. Interim coach Mike Woodson said he expects Lin to be ready if the Knicks can get out of the first round.
