Orioles’ Chen Wei-yin t-shirt goes on sale in Taiwan – CNA ENGLISH NEWS
Taipei, April 13 (CNA) The official No. 16 t-shirt for Taiwanese pitcher Chen Wei-yin went on sale in Taipei Friday, two days after the left-hander made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut for the Baltimore Orioles.
The first batch of 300 T-shirts come in black, white and gray, with a price tag of NT$800, according to Pegasus International Holdings, the Taiwan agent for official MLB apparel. Liang Chao-huang, the company’s merchandise director, said the t-shirt will also be available at affiliated retailers around Taiwan from the following day. He predicted that 20,000 of the shirts will be sold before an MLB All-Star Game in July, and said the company will import more Chen jerseys and memorabilia.
Chen is the fifth Taiwanese pitcher to play in the MLB after Tsao Chin-hui, Wang Chien-ming, Kuo Hong-chih and Ni Fu-te. He was a member of the Chunichi Dragons in the Nippon Professional Baseball league before joining the MLB.
